Error Coins

Does the U.S. Mint Make Mistakes? You bet they do and lots of them. However, there aren’t as many errors made the past decade due to tighter control measures adopted at the Mint. There have been some exciting errors minted and they are highly collectible and sought after. Types of error coins include off center, broad-struck, clips, brockage, capped die, flippers, double struck, doubled die, wrong stock, mules, rep inched mint mark, laminates, overdates, and the list goes on! Collecting error coins (and currency) can be a rewarding and fun hobby, A good resource on the various types of errors available is “World’s Greatest Mint Errors” by Mike Byer, published by Zyros Press. It should be available online or at your favorite book store. Happy Collecting!
