When it comes to obsolete currency, Alabama is a tough state. Especially for the rarer notes. This featured note, the R. North & Co's Family Medicine Store of Mobile, Alabama, 12 1/2 cents is one such note! Probably from the early 1860's. Although a remainder, it is certainly a tough note to come by. It is also an unlisted denomination in the Alabama obsolete currency book. This note does have a problem in that it has an early repaired tear which is reflected in the price.
