Tokens
Most tokens are commonly called "Good For" tokens as they were used by merchants for exchange on their goods. Tokens that were lost or misplaced afforded the merchant an immediate profit, as the merchant handed out tokens as change, especially during times of U.S. coin shortages.
Tokens were used primarily from the late 1800's to the 1960's. Various denominations were used, such as the 1/2 cent through $5.00. They were made from various metals such as brass, copper, and aluminum being the most common. Today, these tokens are widely collected by state, town/city, saloon, merchant or business type, etc.
As time permits, we will be listing many hundreds of tokens that we have acquired over the past fifty years. Please check back to see if we have anything of interest to you.
